Twitter is a microblogging platform and social media website owned by Jack Dorsey. Users can create an account where they may post text, images, and videos, though text posts are limited to 180 characters, and referred to as "tweets".

There has been a South Park fanbase on Twitter since 2008, with one of the first roleplays there being open in 2009.

In December 2018, when Tumblr announced it would ban adult content from its platform, a significant influx of new users joined Twitter, which was seen to have more lax content rules when it came to sex. It became, in particular, much more popular for artists.

South Park Twitter[]

Official Account[]

There is an official South Park account on Twitter.

From 2013 to 2018, each new episode of South Park to air would be accompanied the next week on rebroadcast by a "live-tweet" including official art, statements from Matt and Trey, and more, across Seasons 17 to 22 before the practice ended. This content would later be mirrored at the South Park Scriptorium and from seasons 19 to 22, on the Blu-Ray releases as #SocialCommentary.

There is also an official account for the South Park: Phone Destroyer game, which often performs giveaways.

Contrary to popular belief, Trey Parker and Matt Stone do not have public Twitter accounts, though multiple accounts claim to be Trey.

sptwt[]

Sptwt is shorthand for a particularly active segment of the fanbase for South Park on Twitter.

Exemplary Spider Ally describes sptwt as:

sptwt is just people on twitter who like south park and post about it. no drama is necessary. im just here to tweet about clyde or something

Clay describes sptwt as:

sptwt is like a very small town everyone knows everyone

Evan describes sptwt as:

A deranged and distant family of crazy people, that are all vaguely connected by South park

In January 2022, the popularity of the Sup Jew meme resulted in a significant expansion sptwt lore, including the creation of several sptwt flags, which soon lead to the creation of a mascot named Parker, a lore documentation, and the Tweet Park wiki.

A letter written on behalf of sptwt addressed to the official account asked for the creation of an episode involving Kyman and portraying teenage and adult members of the fandom seen as Proshippers asking for them to be depicted living in a retirement home.

sptwt is no stranger to frequent critism from outsiders, being considered a controversial community, as well as what can only be described as civil war.

Roleplay Community[]

There is an active South Park roleplay community on Twitter, though it has been subject to controversy. Hundreds of accounts proclaim to be different South Park characters.
