The Tenchi Solution is a fanspeak term in some fandoms. It is named after the various endings of the harem anime Tenchi Muyo!, and refers to three different romantic resolution plots in fanfiction:
- Marry Them All: The trope most people are talking about when they say Tenchi Solution. The protagonist solves the problem of figuring out which love interest they like more by simply choosing all of them.
- No Romantic Resolution: Keep the Status Quo, always. Sure, there may be small references of moments of shipping in the fic, but the lead character is just going to equivocate until the cows come home.
- Dump Them All: The protagonist walks away from all possible romantic interests with no intention choosing any girl, or picking a girl completely that was previously a minor character or not mentioned at all.
